PROJECT PARK! (The story so far)

PROJECT PARK! (The story so far)

It has been a little over a year now that the Parish Council announced exciting plans to completely refurbish the park and make it fit for the growing village. Plans include new walkways, new seating areas, new natural spaces, and very importantly much improved play space for children and young people.

If you have heard of all these plans, and you are a regular visitor to the park, you may be thinking that all promises and no action! Well I am afraid you would be wrong. We have been working in the background to get our Master Plan into action. True, its taking some time, but there are many hurdles to jump over, one of them of course is funding.

I am not going to go into great detail here, but suffice to say, we have appointed our Project Managers, and the plans for the new park entrance have been drawn up. We are awaiting some approvals and guidelines from Charnwood Borough Council, but we are as anxious as you are to announce 'Thunderbirds are go'. We will, of course, keep the village updated. It is a long term project, but will bring many benefits to everyone that takes advantage of the changes being made.

One other good piece of news is that Leicestershire County Council will be repairing the footpath that runs across the park from Swan Street to Albert Avenue, starting early October. Footpath closure details, so work can take place, will on on the Parish Council website nearer the time.
